Supercharged Lamborghini Diablo takes Best of Show at London Concours

Top honours at the eighth London Concours (4-6 June) went to a 1994 Lamborghini Diablo SE30 prototype. The car was creation with factory blessing by Lamborghini Hoecker in Landau, Germany who used a supercharger to add over 100bhp to the standard V12 and upping power from 525bhp to a monstrous 634bhp. On the German autobahn it is said to regularly hit 225mph. The 1994 conversion – which unsurprisingly included uprated brakes! – set the then-owner back almost €200,000 over the cost the car

The concours, which takes place at the Honourable Artillery Company in the heart of The City, hosted some 80 contenders in an exclectic selection of classes ranging from Purple Reign (you can guess the theme) to Zagatos, the latter class jusged by Andrea Zagato himself.

While the Lamborghini was Best in Show, the Chaiman’s Award, the gift of judges’ chairman Peter Read, went to a Formula 1 car, the ever-popular Penthouse-and-Rizla-liveried Cosworth DFV-powered Hesketh 308E.

A full list of class awards is at the bottom of this story, but beyond the classics, visitors and guests enjoyed fine food and drink, Iconic Auctioneers Luxury Lifestyle Auction, seminars and discussions, including a live recording the Smith and Sniff podcast, and more.

London Concours director Andrew Evans said: ‘We’re in the privileged position of having already established the London Concours as a must-attend event in the summer calendar, but we never rest on our laurels. In recent years we’ve expanded from a two-day into a three-day event, transformed our luxurious hospitality and evolved more and more content for visitors to enjoy.

‘A rotating selection of automotive celebrations, in addition to nine classes and a live Lifestyle Auction by Iconic Auctioneers drew in more visitors to the London Concours than ever before.’
