Has there ever been a stronger film and car association that the one forged by the appearance of an Aston Martin DB5 in the 1964 film Goldfinger? To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the legendary film, Aston Martin has created a run of 60 special DB12 Goldfinger Editions, uniquely specified by the marque’s bespoke personalisation service, Q by Aston Martin.
The connection between Aston Martin and James Bond was forged in 1964, with the DB5 subsequently appearing in several Bond films, with other models also often starring – the DBS, V8 Vantage, Vanquish and one-off DB10 among others – but it’s the Goldfinger DB5 that has stood the test of time as the ultimate Bond car.
Naturally, the Goldfinger Edition is painted in Silver Birch, which is complimented by 21-inch multi-spoke wheels in a unique silver, with a diamond treatment finish. Other visual touches include bespoke gold side strakes and a classic-style Aston Martin logo in silver with a black enamel finish.

Step inside and there are a number of special features, most notably the ‘Sports Plus’ seats trimmed in the DB5 fluted style with an intricate Prince of Wales check perforation pattern – said to be a nod to the classic James Bond suit. This special trimming extends to the headlining and door cards.
The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured
Of course, it wouldn’t be complete without some gold. Several of the car’s switches and dials – such as the drive mode rotary dial, the roller controls, as well as the notched gear selector – are plated with 18k gold. That’s not all, there are also metal fibres weaved into the carbon fibre trim.
Each Goldfinger Edition is presented with a Globe-Trotter attaché case, filled with goodies, including a custom car cover, luxury key presentation box, Silver Birch Speedform model and a section of the iconic Furka Pass scene in Goldfinger in 35mm film.
‘The relationship between Aston Martin and the James Bond franchise is something that is always treasured’, said Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer. ‘It is an incredible occasion to be able to recognise six decades of this partnership with an extraordinary special edition, and pay homage to the very first – and perhaps most famous Aston Martin Bond car. Incorporating these subtle but impactful touches, developed by our own ‘Q’ department has created a very unique offering; one that will be adored by Bond fans across the world.’
