RM Sotheby’s has consigned some blockbuster lots for its inaugural sale at Cliveden House in Berkshire on 12 June. The sale is led by a beautiful 1960 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta by Scaglietti and it will be interesting to see how that fares against the recent Artcurial Short-Wheelbase which fell well short of estimate in Monaco.
The RM car was the 34th of the 165 built and had car a full restoration by Carrozzeria Autosport in 2009. It is offered with Ferrari Classiche certification and is estimated at a fair-looking £5-6million.
The Short-Wheelbase will be sold alongside a a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS by Pininfarina (£1.3-1.6m) and a curious one-off 1963 Ferrari 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso by Fantuzzi. Bodied in the style of a 330 LMB, it was originally delivered to Luciano Pederzani, co-founder of the Tecno Formula 1 team, before later ending up in the hands of broadcaster Chris Evans. Restored by DK Engineering in 2011 and maintained since by GTO Engineering, it is estimated to make £1.1-1.5m.
Another star lot is expected to be a 2014 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, one of only 92 built and the model that set a 254.04mph record for the world’s fastest open-top production sports car in 2015. Estimate £2-2.5m.
The catalogue also boasts a 1965 Aston Martin DB5 Convertible, believed to be the penultimate example of the 123 built and with just four owners from new. Its estimate is £800,000-1,000,000.
