Now in its ninth year, the Hope Classic Rally has raised over £200,000 for WeSeeHope – a charity that provides children in East Africa with access to community-led education, child rights and economic empowerment programmes. In total, 51 cars and 100 guests took part in the rally – Including our Editor-in-Chief James Elliott driving a (kindly donated for the event) Aston Martin DB6.
The DB6 was one of 35 cars that were generously loaned by their owners for the day, with the other 16 being brought along by their owners to take part in the event. Starting at a luxury hotel, the day consists of a carefully-planned route through the English countryside, followed by a sumptuous dinner, charity auction and overnight stay at a luxury hotel. This event can only happen thanks to the generosity of the car owners who show an enormous amount of trust and kindness in donating them for others to enjoy.
The evening celebration was fantastic – not only was there a great atmosphere, but a live auction which raised over £33,000. Simon Thomas of Soccer Saturday (and previously Blue Peter) played host for the evening and he interviewed WeSeeHope co-founder, Wendy Wall MBE, about their work with children and young people in East Africa. He then interviewed Richard Tuthill, Director of Tuthill Porsche (one of the charity’s partners), about his experience rallying and building his company.
The Hope Classic Rally has helped to raise over £200,000 for WeSeeHope.
